On this International Women’s Day (IWD), Team TaxAaram conveys its sincere gratitude, thanks and a BIG SALUTE to All the Wonderful & Charismatic Women & Girls Out there!!

International Women's Day (March 8) is a global day celebrating the social, economic, cultural, and political achievements of women. The day also marks a call to action for accelerating women's equality.

IWD has occurred for well over a century, with the first IWD gathering in 1911 supported by over a million people. Today, IWD belongs to all groups collectively everywhere. IWD is not country, group or organization specific.

The Theme of this year's International Women's Day is "BREAK THE BIAS".

On this International Women’s Day, Let us Remember & Appreciate the Wonderful Accomplishments of Some of Our Terrific Women Achievers, who are a tremendous Source of Inspiration for all of us.

Smt. Nirmala Sitharaman ji (born 18 August 1959) is an Indian economist and politician serving as the current Minister of Finance and Corporate Affairs of India. She is a member of the Rajya Sabha, upper house of the Indian Parliament, since 2014. Sitharaman ji formerly served as the Defence Minister of India, thereby becoming India's second female defence minister and also the second female finance minister after Indira Gandhi and first full-time female Finance Minister. She has served as the Minister of State for Finance and Corporate Affairs under the Ministry of Finance and the Minister for Commerce and Industry with independent charge. Prior to that, she served as a national spokesperson for the Bharatiya Janata Party.

Sitharaman ji has featured in the Forbes 2021 list of World's 100 most powerful women and was ranked 37. Fortune has ranked Nirmala Sitharaman ji as the most powerful woman in India.

Dr. Ritu Karidhal Srivastava is an Indian scientist working with the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO). She was a Deputy Operations Director to India's Mars orbital mission, Mangalyaan. She has been referred to as one of the many "Rocket Women" of India. She was born and brought up in Lucknow and is an aerospace engineer.

Kalpana Chawla (March 17, 1962 – February 1, 2003) was an Indian-born American astronaut and engineer who was the first woman of Indian origin to go to space. She first flew on Space Shuttle Columbia in 1997 as a mission specialist and primary robotic arm operator.

Her second flight was on STS-107, the final flight of Space Shuttle Columbia in 2003. Chawla was one of the seven crew members who died in the Space Shuttle Columbia disaster when the spacecraft disintegrated during its re-entry into the Earth's atmosphere. Chawla was posthumously awarded the Congressional Space Medal of Honor, and several streets, universities, and institutions have been named in her honor. She is regarded as a national hero in India. Chawla died on February 1, 2003.

Lata Mangeshkar ji (born as Hema Mangeshkar; 28 September 1929 – 6 February 2022) was an Indian playback singer, music composer and philanthropist. She is widely considered to have been one of the greatest and most influential singers in India. Her contribution to the Indian music industry in a career spanning seven decades gained her honorific titles such as the "Queen of Melody", "Nightingale of India", and "Voice of the Millennium".

Lata recorded songs in over thirty-six Indian languages and a few foreign languages, though primarily in Marathi, Hindi, and Bengali. Her foreign languages included English, Russian, Dutch, and Swahili. She received several accolades and honors throughout her career. In 1989, the Dadasaheb Phalke Award was bestowed on her by the Government of India. In 2001, in recognition of her contributions to the nation, she was awarded the Bharat Ratna, India's highest civilian honour; she is only the second female singer, after M. S. Subbulakshmi, to receive this honour. France conferred on her its highest civilian award, Officer of the National Order of the Legion of Honour, in 2007.

She was the recipient of three National Film Awards, 15 Bengal Film Journalists' Association Awards, four Filmfare Best Female Playback Awards, two Filmfare Special Awards, the Filmfare Lifetime Achievement Award and many more. In 1974, she was one of the first Indian playback singers to perform at Royal Albert Hall in London, UK. Her last recorded song was "Saugandh Mujhe Is Mitti ki" released on 30 March 2019 as a tribute to the Indian Army and the Nation.

At one point, she appeared in the Guinness World Records which listed her as the most recorded artist in history between 1948 and 1987.

Mithali Dorai Raj (born 3 December 1982) is an Indian cricketer and the Test and ODI captain of Indian Women's National Cricket Team. She is a right-handed upper Middle-order batter and occasional right-arm leg break bowler. Raj is the highest run-scorer in women’s international cricket.

She is the highest run-scorer in women's international cricket and the only female cricketer to surpass the 7,000 run mark in Women's One Day International matches. She is the first player to score seven consecutive 50s in ODIs. Raj also holds the record for most half-centuries in WODIs. In June 2018 during the 2018 Women's Twenty20 Asia Cup, she became the first player from India (either male or female) to score 2000 runs in T20Is, and also became the first woman cricketer to reach 2000 WT20I runs.

In 2005, she became the captain of the side. Raj is the only player (female) to have captained India in more than one ICC ODI World Cup final, doing so twice in 2005 and 2017. On 1 February 2019, during India's series against New Zealand Women, Raj became the first woman to play in 200 ODI matches. In September 2019, she announced her retirement from T20Is to focus on ODI cricket. In 2019, she became the first woman to complete 20 years in international cricket.

She is the recipient of several national and international awards, including the Wisden Leading Woman Cricketer in the World in 2017, Arjuna Award in 2003, the Padma Shri in 2015, and Major Dhyanchand Khel Ratna in 2021, All by the Government of India.

In July 2021, in the third WODI match against England, Raj became the leading run-scorer in women's international cricket. She went past Charlotte Edwards' previous record of 10,273 runs.

R Sivabhogam (Ramasamy) (born 23 July 1907 in India), is the First Woman Chartered Accountant of India.

R Sivabhogam did her early schooling in Lady Wellington School Chennai, was a student of Sister Subbalakshmi in field of Social Service and graduated from The Queen Mary’s College Chennai. She participated in non-cooperation movement launched by Mahatma Gandhi and was imprisoned for a year. After her release Sivabhogam registered for Government Diploma in Accountancy and created history by becoming the first Indian Woman Accountant in 1933. She underwent article-ship training under Mr. C S Sastri.

Sivabhogam could not start her independent practice immediately after her training as the then British Government enacted a law in India under which people who had undergone imprisonment were prevented from registering themselves as Accountants. Sivabhogam filed a writ petition to quash such an Act and got the verdict in her favour. To note the issue a separate file by name Sivabhogam was opened in Delhi India for the petition.[2]

Shivabhogam started her independent practice in 1937 and was also a part-time assistant with M/s. Sastri and Shah. On the formation of The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) in 1949 Sivabhogam was enrolled as a member and became a fellow on 17 June 1950. Sivabhogam became the Chairperson of the Southern India Regional Council (SIRC) of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (the then Madras Council). She is the only woman so far to have held this position, for a continuous period of three years from 1955 to 1958. She was also a senate member of the University of Madras.

Sivabhogam had been very active in social service and primarily for the cause of women’s education. She was a believer in Gandhian principles and wore Khadi till her death on 14 June 1966.
